Benson Boone Calls Off Birmingham Show Citing Vocal Issues: ‘I Have Tried Everything I Can to Revive My Voice’

Benson Boone was forced to pull the plug on his show at Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England on Saturday (Nov. 1) at the last minute due to vocal issues. According to a BBC report, in a since-expired statement posted to his Instagram Story, Boone apologized to fans for the missed date, saying his throat condition necessitated the call-off.

“Birmingham I am so so sorry but I will not be able to perform tonight,” Boone wrote in the since expired message. “I have tried everything I can to revive my voice, but I cannot give you the show I’d like to be able to give you with the condition of my throat right now. This is genuinely the crappiest feeling, I am so sorry. I promise you I will do everything in my power to make it up to you.”

Boone promised that he will update fans on a rescheduled date as soon as possible.

The BBC reported that the arena also confirmed the cancellation, saying it was “working through all possible options to reschedule… We understand how disappointing this is and sincerely apologize for the extremely short notice and inconvenience caused.”

At press time a spokesperson for Boone had not returned Billboard‘s request for comment on the cancelled show or and no information was available on whether Boone will be back in fighting shape for his upcoming three-night run at the O2 Arena in London, which is slated to kick off on Monday night (Nov. 3). Boone is slated to be on the road in Europe in support of his second studio album, American Heart, through a Nov. 18 show at Avicii Arena in Stockholm, Sweden and will round out his year of touring with a Dec. 4 slot at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the United Arab Emirates.

Boone is also booked to play one of the most exciting shows of his career on Nov. 29 when he is lined up to play as part of Visa Live at the Rocket Garden, a one-night-only special event at the Rocket Garden at Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Fla., which will be livestreamed to fans around the world on TikTok.
