After years of being out of stock, and a subsequent Augudy restock that sold out in less than 24 hours, Melanie Martinez’s Cry Baby Perfume Milk is finally back in stock.
This second restock is not one you’ll want to miss, given the fragrance has been off the market for around eight or nine years as of press time. The coveted Cry Baby fragrance is back on Portals Perfumes’ website, and retails for $175. The bottle, shaped like a vintage-inspired glass baby bottle, is 100 ml or 3.4 oz, giving you ample product to hopefully last you until the next restock. Nostalgic and unique, Cry Baby is a milk-scented perfume, capturing innocence and childhood wonder through Martinez’s lens.
You’ve got top notes of milk, which smells powdery and sweet, along with strawberry and forest fruits that lend a sweet touch to the milky base. Milk often smells creamy, soft and sweet rather than animalic like some would believe it to be. With a top note like milk, we’d classify this perfume as a gourmand. Now, you might be asking yourself, “What’s a gourmand?” A gourmand fragrance is one that contains edible notes such as vanilla, caramel, chocolate, matcha and orange. The resulting fragrance is often decadent and sweet, rather than herbal or woods.
Middle notes are where the powdery scents live, while the base is composed of notes of caramel and wood, adding more depth to the fragrance. According to Portals Parfums, the fragrance is described as “the spirit of the girl who is playfully innocent, but conceals an irreverent edge.” It’s playful and sweet but sharp thanks to the woody notes that transform the otherwise sweet scent into something more complex.
The fragrance was created sometime around 2016 in support of her 2015 album of the same name. Upon the fragrance’s release, it was a massive hit. In an interview with Wild 94.9 radio station in 2023, Martinez confirmed that the perfume could not be restocked because the manufacturer no longer existed after fans begged her to bring the fragrance back. In between the 2025 Cry Baby restock, the internet went crazy trying to satisfy their craving for the fragrance by duping it on sites such as Etsy. You even had some savvy Martinez fans selling their OG bottles on EBay for up to $500. The restock was a much-needed reprieve for fans, giving the opportunity to smell and try on the perfume first-hand.
