While most people know Jessica Simpson for her work in the music industry, the “I Wanna Love You Forever” singer has also had a long and fruitful career in the beauty and fashion spaces.
With Billboard chart-topping hits such as “A Public Affair” and “With You,” it’s easy to understand why Simpson’s success in the music space brought her world-renowned fame. Simpson’s beauty and fashion romps are also quite impressive. The star has dipped her toes into the industries’ warm waters in 2004 with the launch of her “Dessert Beauty” line of edible lip glosses, perfumes and cosmetics.
In 2008, Simpson launched a more sophisticated perfume, aptly titled Fancy, her first more traditional scent. All of this brings us to now, with the launch of Simpson’s latest creation, Mystic Canyon, the first fragrance she’s released in more than five years. This new perfume — or eau de parfum, to be exact — is available to shop exclusively online and in stores at JCPenny. You’ve got the 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum for $60, 1.0 oz for $35, and a gift set that includes the 3.4 oz bottle and a 0.34 oz rollerball for $65. The 1.0 oz version of Mystic Canyon is already sold out. You’ll want to jump on the opportunity to get your hands on this fragrance before it’s gone.

Jessica Simpson Mystic Canyon Eau De Parfum
Simpson’s first new fragrance in more than five years.
This fragrance is like fall in a bottle, and one of the more sophisticated offerings Simpson has released thus far. Even the bottle, what with its silver and turquoise accents, screams “adult,” a far cry from her more sugary teenybopper-esque scents.
Before diving into the nitty-gritty of the fragrance, it’s important to note that Mystic Canyon is an eau de parfum, which often consists of a 15-20% concentration of fragrance oils dropped into an alcohol base, making it less long-lasting than a traditional perfume. The higher the concentration of fragrance, the longer the fragrance will last. On average, an eau de parfum will last up to four to eight hours on the skin, which should give you plenty of time between a secondary application.
This fragrance is floral, but also spicy and woody. The top notes are pink pepper, found in popular perfumes such as Glossier’s You, along with fruity black currant and purple plum. Middle notes are where the florals live, including jasmine, Turkish rose and creamy iris. Your bottom notes include the warm and woody notes of vanilla bean, amber and cedarwood, notes that give the fragrance depth and body.
If you’re looking for something interesting to wear this fall, this scent should be on the top of your list. It’s a more dynamic scent than your traditional floral perfumes thanks to the spicy and woody notes that make us think of a flower blooming in a snowy flowerbed or a cozy fireplace in the dead of winter.
