How Anyma Pulled Off the Biggest Electronic Music Show Ever at the Pyramids of Giza: ‘Truly Historic’

Roughly 4,625 years ago, Egyptian laborers constructed the Pyramids of Giza. The people who forged these sacred sites housing the tombs of pharaohs were visionary in their designs, but there’s no way they could have foreseen that thousands of years later, the place they created would host 15,000 people arriving to see a musical genre that wouldn’t be invented for millennia.

This bridging of ancient history and cutting-edge future happened on Oct. 10, when Anyma performed what his team says was the biggest electronic music show to ever happen at the Pyramids, and possibly the biggest electronic music performance ever in Egypt.

The night featured two performances from the Italian-American producer, who started making major waves in late 2024 when he launched his residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere. This Sphere run debuted his show The End of Genesys, which the artist, born Matteo Milleri, also performed at the Pyramids along with a DJ set featuring his Quantum concept.

Anyma’s agent, Ferry Rais-Shaghaghi of CAA, says that more than 60% of tickets for the show were purchased by international fans, which made the performance “highly appealing to Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism.” While the Pyramids often host musical performances (Rais-Shaghaghi’s client Adriatique performed at the site this past April), he reports that the Anyma show, which happened across two stages, had a much larger production that featured the largest LED screen ever constructed in Egypt.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved,” Rais-Shaghaghi tells Billboard. “I want to acknowledge everyone involved. It’s easy as the agent to be the face of success, but this was entirely a team effort. Without the creativity, hard work, and trust of every person from management to production to our local partners none of this would have been possible.”

The feat was more than enough to earn Rais-Shaghaghi the title of Billboard‘s Executive of the Week. Below, the agent tells us how they pulled it off.

How did the show come together, and why was this the right moment for Anyma to do such a performance?

For Matteo, it has always been about reimagining what a live experience can be. While performances at the Pyramids have taken place before, his vision was to create something experiential on an entirely new dimension. A two-stage, two-chapter performance that fused ancient history with cutting-edge technology.

It was truly cinematic. Through the support of our local promoter partners, Anyma’s management and his exceptional production team, we were able to execute a show that not only honored the sacredness of the site but also elevated it into a futuristic visual and sonic journey.

Given that the Pyramids also host other musical performances, what made this show different from other events that happened there?

This was the largest electronic production ever staged at the Pyramids and quite possibly in Egypt’s history. The show was positioned at a new, unprecedentedly close location to the monuments, allowing for a breathtaking visual alignment between the stage and the Pyramids.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime concert: a seamless blend of scale, precision and artistry that set a new benchmark for what’s possible at heritage sites.

What considerations or guidelines were your team asked to abide by when playing at such a historic site? Did those guidelines in any way affect what you could do with the production?

We were extremely mindful of every detail, from safety to environmental sensitivity. We coordinated 340 shuttle buses to ensure safe and efficient transport for fans, and every production element was designed to be non-invasive yet visually spectacular. The goal was to respect the heritage while enhancing its beauty through technology to showcase the Pyramids, not overshadow them.

Was preparation for this show different than for any other gig?

Absolutely. This project demanded total alignment from every member of the Anyma ecosystem. From safety protocols to production design, creative concept and marketing rollout, every layer required a fresh, holistic way of thinking. For me, it redefined what meticulous planning and collective execution truly mean in live entertainment.

We’ve seen The End of Genesys at Sphere and now at the Pyramids. What makes this show so attractive to the operators of these world-renowned venues?

We saw over 60% of tickets purchased by international fans, which made the show highly appealing to Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism. Beyond the cultural prestige, it contributed meaningfully to the local economy, employing roughly 3,600 people across production, logistics and hospitality.

The global reach of the viral content also positioned Egypt as a modern, capable and welcoming destination for large-scale cultural experiences, which aligns perfectly with the goals of both the venue and the artist.

What were the logistical challenges of executing the show?

Building the largest LED screen ever constructed in Egypt and doing so in the middle of the desert was no small task. The production, light mapping and programming were executed with world-class precision. Credit goes to the Anyma production team and our local partners, who operated with unmatched technical and creative excellence. It was one of the most sophisticated productions I’ve ever witnessed.

What were the high points of the night?

For me, it was witnessing the entire evening unfold seamlessly from the flow of the programming to the safe and joyful experience of the fans. It felt like the culmination of years of work and trust. Everyone left that night with the sense that they had been part of something truly historic.

What does this performance do for the Anyma brand?

This marks another evolution in Matteo’s journey of pushing the boundaries between music, design, and technology. Each project inspires him to keep exploring how to turn the seemingly impossible into reality. The Pyramids performance cements Anyma’s reputation as a visionary artist capable of creating experiences that transcend traditional live music formats.
