It seems that 2025 is a big year for major anime movies.
Following the hugely successful release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, a new, massively beloved player enters the proverbial anime movie ring. Based on the anime of the same name, Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc will be launching in theaters starting Oct. 24.
Denji is hacking and slashing his way to the big screen, and it only makes sense given the success of the anime and manga. It’s so popular that in October of this year, the manga had more than 31 million copies in circulation, making it one of the bestselling manga series of all time. Of course, this statistic is impressive, but here at ShopBillboard, we’re all about the music.
The anime’s opening theme, titled “Kick Back” by Japanese musician Kenshi Yonezu, peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales. On Billboard Japan‘s Hot 100 charts, the track peaked at No. 1. Yonezu has three top 10 hits on Billboard‘s charts. Yonezu’s track was released digitally back in 2022, along with three physical releases.
While we could sit here and talk about music all day, the movie’s release is just around the corner, which means we’ve got no time to waste. Tickets to the screening can be purchased on Fandango’s website. The film is being shown in either Japanese with English subtitles or English dub.
Chainsaw Man centers around main character Denji, a young man down on his luck who works as a Devil Hunter for the yakuza, trying to pay off the debt he inherited from his parents. Everything is going surprisingly well until the yakuza betrayed him and has him killed.
On the verge of death, Denji’s beloved chainsaw-powered devil-dog, Pochita, made a deal with Denji and saved his life. This fused the two together, creating the unstoppable Chainsaw Man. The film takes place directly after the events of Chainsaw Man season one in what is called the Reze arc, also known as the Bomb Girl arc. It covers chapters 40 to 52 in the manga.
