FOUND: Missing Clay man with dementia found safe, police say

UPDATE on Nov. 1, 2025: The sheriff’s office announced that Woodruff has been found and is safe.
ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing man with dementia.

73-year-old David Woodruff from Clay is missing and believed to be vulnerable due to a diagnosis of dementia.
He was last seen around 6:18 p.m. near Norstar Boulevard wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt, blue pants and a leather jacket. He is also known to wear a brown knit cap.
Woodruff is described as a white male with gray hair, hazel eyes and a distinct mole on his forehead.
How You Can Help:
- If you see Woodruff, call 911 immediately
- Do not approach in a way that could startle him; keep him in sight and relay his exact location, direction of travel and the time of the sighting to dispatch
- Check security footage (residential/commercial) from the area of Norstar Boulevard and the surrounding neighborhoods for potential sightings
- Share his information on social media and community networks to widen the search
