Tell Me Something Good: Peter Noone

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits has recorded vocals for a new song set to release on Sept. 12, marking a new chapter after headlining Chevy Court for 15 years.

The song, “I’ll Be Taking Her Out Tonight,” was originally recorded in 1980 with The Tremblers, featuring members from bands like Dave Clark Five and the Heartbreakers.

“The music I grew up on was the British Invasion,” said Syracuse Music Hall of Famer Gary Frenay. “Peter’s one of the hugest stars ever, so love that.”

Frenay, along with his Flashcubes partner Tommy Allen, reached out to Noone to contribute to their Half-Cubes Pop Treasures collection. This collection revives more than 40 songs they have cherished over the years.

“We try to find songs that we love that weren’t hits or songs that were sort of minor hits,” Frenay said. “But we do them in our own way.”

Noone expressed his admiration for the project, saying, “They did a great job, these guys, they’re really good. I’m impressed with it.”

Frenay praised Noone’s enduring talent.

“He has aged so well as a singer,” he said. “For all of us who still try to do this later in life, some have the gift and some don’t. And he really has the gift.”

The new single is anticipated to bring back memories of the British Invasion era, with Noone’s contribution adding a nostalgic touch to the Half-Cubes’ collection.
