Tetris Kelly: We’re previewing some of the biggest upcoming hip-hop and R&B albums of this fall, presented by Amazon Prime. Carl Lamarre, our senior director of hip-hop and R&B, breaks down the new Cardi B record on the way this September.

Carl Lamarre: For Cardi, she just recently released her new single, “Imaginary Playerz,” which is a call back to Jay-Z’s 1997 classic “Imaginary Players.” It’s gonna be off her anticipated album Am I the Drama?, which comes out Sept. 19. It also follows her top 10 Hot 100 debut “Outside.”

Tetris Kelly: And we can’t wait to hear the new Brent Faiyez project.

Carl Lamarre: He recently put out two singles, two records, “Tony Soprano” and “Peter Pan.” They’ll be coming on his next album, Icon, which is also slated to be released this September. So he may potentially go head to head with Cardi. That’s coming from his last album, which was Larger Than Life, which debuted top 10 on the Billboard 200.

Tetris Kelly: We’re getting a new Lil Baby album as well, featuring some heavy hitters.

Carl Lamarre: Lil Baby, he’s coming off another No. 1 album himself. He put out an album first quarter this year called ‘WHAM,’ had some huge features, like Future, Young Thug. So this new project called ‘The Leak$,’ is gonna have another Young Thug feature and some new artists as well.
