Auburn man dies in Seneca County thruway tractor-trailer rollover

UPDATE: The man who died as a result of the accident has been identified as Daniel L. Northrup of Auburn.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — On the morning of Aug. 13, around 7:41 a.m., one man died in a tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 90 in Phelps, said the New York State Police.

The tractor-trailer was traveling west on the thruway when it drifted off the road, along the right shoulder guardrails, and turned over onto its side. The trailer, carrying non-dangerous miscellaneous products, remained attached to the truck.

The male 40-year-old driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Troopers. Then, they were taken to Geneva General Hospital.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
