Luke Bryan Hit in the Face by an Object During Concert — and Keeps on Singing
Luke Bryan took a hit to the face and soldiered on during his performance at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot, N.D., on Friday (July 26). In fan-captured footage of the incident, the two-time CMA entertainer of the year winner was struck in the face by a round object that was thrown during his performance of “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”
Bryan briefly paused, clearly caught off guard by being hit, but quickly recovered and continued singing, without commenting on the incident.
Billboard has reached out to his rep for comment.
The North Dakota State Fair, which was held July 18-26, also included performances from Limp Bizkit, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Bow Wow, Soulja Boy and more.
Bryan, of course, is far from the first artist who has had to deal with objects being thrown at them while they are performing. In 2024, Bebe Rexha kicked a concertgoer out of her concert after the attendee threw an object on stage. In 2023, Drake was hit on the wrist by a cell phone a fan threw, while Kelsea Ballerini had to temporarily halt her show after the country singer was struck by a bracelet.
Bryan is just getting back to performing after he had to recently back out of a few concerts due to illness. During a recent concert in Greenville, S.C., Bryan told fans he had previously contracted COVID-19, leading him to back out of the shows.
“Three weeks ago, I got COVID,” the country star said, drawing boos from the audience. “You can boo that s–t all you want, but I got it and I had to cancel some shows, but now I’m back. I’m not 100%, ’cause that’s still kicking my a–. And you know what? I don’t give a s–t. When I can sing, I’m gonna sing, and when I can’t y’all are gonna sing, all right?”
Bryan’s next concert is slated for July 31 in St. Louis.
