A New MGK Song Will Be ESPN’s Anthem for 2025-2026 College Football Season

A new song by MGK (formerly Machine Gun Kelly) will serve as the official anthem for ESPN’s College Football coverage for the 2025-2026 season. The musician broke the news during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show Thursday afternoon (July 31), and ESPN shared the details with Billboard first.

“Don’t Wait Run Fast” is a rock-tinged tune slated to land on MGK’s upcoming album, Lost Americana, which arrives on Aug. 8.

It’s the 12th season ESPN has collaborated with an artist to provide the soundtrack to the Worldwide Leader’s college football coverage. Last year, the network teamed up with Jelly Roll and his song “Get By.” Previous artists include Post Malone, Juice WRLD, Marshmello and Fall Out Boy.

“Music and college football have been intertwined for years, and our ESPN College Football anthem ushers in that first spark of the season,” said Curtis Friends, ESPN VP of marketing, in a statement. “This 12th iteration, MGK brings a passionate, high-voltage sound that mirrors the raw emotion and untamed spirit of college football.”

ESPN also released a cinematic trailer featuring MGK and “Don’t Wait Run Fast” behind the wildest moments of the 2024 college football season, which finished with Ohio State winning the College Football Playoff National Championship.

The 35-year-old is no stranger to the college football scene. He hit the stage on West Virginia University’s campus last season, where he performed a mashup of “Lonely Road/ Take Me Home, Country Road.”

MGK’s Lost Americana serves as the genre-blending artist’s seventh studio album. He’s previously released singles “Cliche,” which debuted at No. 62 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Vampire Diaries” and “Miss Sunshine.”

College football coverage kicks off this season Aug. 23 on all of ESPN’s platforms and ABC. Watch the trailer below.
