Olivia Dean Announces Sophomore LP ‘The Art of Loving’ & Surprise London Show

Olivia Dean has announced details of her upcoming second studio album, The Art of Loving, and shared lead single “Nice to Each Other.”

Dean will release her new LP on Sept. 26 via Capitol Records, and it will be the follow-up to 2023 debut Messy. Her debut album hit No. 4 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart and was nominated for the Mercury Prize that year, ultimately losing out to Ezra Collective’s Where I’m Meant to Be

In a press release, Dean says that “’Nice to Each Other” is a song about the push and pull of exploring your independence in dating. It’s about enjoying someone in the present and allowing it to be both light and meaningful. I think this song and video represents a playfulness in me that I’m excited for people to see.”

Earlier this year, Dean released “It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be,” which featured in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and landed at No. 36 on the Official Singles Chart. It is not confirmed whether the track will feature on the forthcoming record.

The news comes ahead of a busy summer of activity for Dean on the live scene. On Friday (June 6), the London-born musician will support Sam Fender at his huge London Stadium show, before joining him at his homecoming shows at Newcastle’s St. James’ Park (June 14, 15) and in Manchester and Edinburgh on Aug. 16 and Aug. 25. She’s also on the lineup for Sabrina Carpenter’s takeover of BST Hyde Park on July 6 alongside Clairo and Beabadoobee.

In addition, Dean has announced a surprise underplay at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on June 11 with tickets available to those who preorder the album. She will also embark on a headlining run through North America, which kicks off at the Variety Playhouse on July 12 and concludes at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on Aug. 6.
