‘Hamilton’ Surges Up Charts After Cast Reunion Performance at Tony Awards

The original Broadway cast recording of Hamilton: An American Musical, jumps 31-15 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated June 21) – its highest rank in four-and-a-half years – thanks to a buzzy performance at the 2025 Tony Awards.

The original Broadway cast reunited for the June 8 ceremony (broadcast on CBS, Paramount+ and PlutoTV) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the musical with a medley performance of songs from the show. Among the reunited performers were show creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with actors Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Christopher Jackson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Leslie Odom Jr., Okieriete Onaodowan, Anthony Ramos and Phillipa Soo.

On the Billboard 200, Hamilton: An American Musical surges from No. 31 to No. 15, the album’s highest rank since the Nov. 21, 2020-dated chart — when it sat at No. 9 — following the then-recent premiere of the filmed version of the show on Disney+ (July 3, 2020). The album peaked at No. 2 on the July 18, 2020-dated chart, following the Disney+ premiere of show. That peak made Hamilton the highest-charting cast recording since 1969, when the original Broadway cast recording of Hair spent 13 weeks at No. 1.

Hamilton: An American Musical has spent 507 weeks on the Billboard 200 (through the June 21, 2025 chart) and is the only cast recording to spend at least 500 weeks on the chart.

In addition to Hamilton’s chart action on the Billboard 200, the set also makes waves on further rankings. It rallies 29-11 on Top Streaming Albums, 4-3 on Top Rap Albums and spends a 434th nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on Cast Albums.
