Morgan Wallen Scores His First No. 1 on U.K. Albums Chart With ‘I’m the Problem’
Morgan Wallen has scored his first No. 1 on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart with his new 37-track LP, I’m the Problem, on Friday (May 23).
The Tennessee-born country star first charted in the U.K. in 2023 with One Thing at a Time debuting at No. 40. The Official Charts Company reports that he joins a small circle of artists to debut at No. 1 with a country album, alongside Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, Post Malone and Beyoncé.
Speaking to the OCC, Wallen said: “The massive growth that we’ve seen in the U.K. is truly something special. One Thing At a Time debuted at No. 40, and I’m the Problem is debuting at No. 1 only two years apart. I am so grateful and humbled my music is connecting in a place where we have spent time and worked to build a real and meaningful relationship with our fans there. Thank you guys so much!”
Wallen is due to play a one-off show at London’s Roundhouse Wednesday (May 28), only his fifth show in the U.K.
Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet remains at No. 2 and Sheeran’s +–=÷× (Tour Collection) finishes the week at No. 3. Yorkshire-formed band The Sherlocks matches its previous peak with fifth studio LP, Everything Must Make Sense! (4). The independent group previously charted with 2017’s Live for the Moment (No. 6), 2019’s Under Your Sky (20), 2022’s Would I Understand (No. 9) and 2023’s People Like Me & You (No. 4).
Sleep Token’s Even in Arcadia rounds out the week at No. 5. The LP hit No. 1 in the U.K. last week (May 16) and simultaneously topped the Billboard 200, putting the group in rare company. Since 2016, only two other British bands have achieved the feat: The 1975 with I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It (2016); and Coldplay with Moon Music (2024).
