Kendrick Lamar‘s latest sneaker statement is a unique one.
The “Not Like Us” rapper was spotted in women’s Nike Vomero Roam kicks while heading to the studio in New York on May 7. The style was released back in November, when Nike revamped its Vomero line, which emphasizes comfort and utility.
Lamar’s chosen Flax/Anthracite/University Gold/Khaki colorway is currently on sale at Dick’s Sporting Goods for $107.99. The deal is hard to beat, given the style usually retails for a lot more on Nike’s website. With the rapper’s influence, it’s likely this sneaker deal will be snatched up fast. Here’s everything you need to know about the rapper’s latest footwear pick.
According to a Nike press release, the Vomero “has evolved into a lifestyle sneaker collection that blends performance with comfort and retro running-inspired style.” Initially, the style was released in 2011 with a performance focus and targeted toward athletes.
This rebrand is winterized, meaning it can hold its own in rain, sleet or snow, thanks in part to its rubber mudguards and water-resistant coating. The colorway is based in neutral burnt oranges and a sandy tan hue that gives the sneaker a retro feel.
Textile and suede uppers give way to adjustable lace toggles that keep the style in place. This is a street-smart silhouette, made for romps in the city no matter the weather. Chunky midsoles provide much-needed cushioning, helping create a spring in the wearer’s step.

We can picture this sneaker styled with athleisure pieces or baggy jorts that play off of the utilitarian motifs. Worn with more feminine pieces such as a dress or lace maxiskirt, the sneakers create a welcome contrast that can offer an edge to any ensemble. Or make like the “Money Trees” rapper and wear your favorite denim and a flannel for a casual, lived-in look.
