Drake Loses $1 Million Bet on Toronto Maple Leafs & Jokingly Blames Justin ‘Bieber Curse’

Drake placed a seven-figure bet on his Toronto Maple Leafs, but unfortunately, the Leafs were demolished in game seven on their home ice Sunday night (May 18) by the Florida Panthers.

Drizzy bet with his heart instead of his head on Sunday when the Panthers wrecked his hometown Leafs by a score of 6-1. Drake placed $1.25 million in wagers on the Leafs to pull off the win and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, which went up in flames.

Instead of the typical “Drake curse” that the 6 God hears about when his sports teams lose, Drizzy flipped the script on Justin Bieber and blamed the “Bieber curse” after the pop star — who’s a massive Leafs fan — attended the game with his wife, Hailey Bieber.

“Bieber curse…” Drake jokingly wrote to his Instagram Story to pour a little salt in the wound for Bieber.

The singer was seated right behind the Leafs bench with his wife and quickly took to Instagram after the putrid game to reflect on the team’s journey this season, and JB’s keeping the faith that the beaten-down Leafs will eventually break through and win a Stanley Cup.

“I don’t remember a time in my life when I haven’t been obsessed with the leafsssss,” he wrote. “This year we made it farther than we have in so long and im happy about that. I can be patient cuz I know this is the team to do it.”

Drake will have plenty of chances in the NBA and NHL playoffs to make up for his losses going forward. Perhaps he’ll be backing the Oklahoma City Thunder on the hoops scene when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals this week.

The NBA has yet to announce the winner of the Kia MVP Award; Drake threw his support behind fellow Canadian and Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who led the NBA in scoring this season.

“MVP R U DUMB,” he wrote to his Instagram Story with a photo of SGA. Alexander also made a cameo in Drizzy’s “Nokia” video earlier this year.
