Turnstile Shares New Video & Songs Featuring Vocals From Dev Hynes & Paramore’s Hayley Williams: Listen
Turnstile is giving fans a two-for-one special Wednesday (April 30), with a music video debut that features new songs “Seein’ Stars” and “Birds,” both from the band’s upcoming album, Never Enough, out June 6.
The former track dreamily glides along to an echoing guitar, kicking rhythm and Brendan Yates’ soaring voice, which is joined by special guests Devonté Hynes (aka Blood Orange) and Paramore’s Hayley Williams. “Birds” shifts the vibe entirely, with the explosive drumming, shredding guitars and high-energy delivery that fans have come to know and love from the hardcore rockers.
Directed by Yates and guitarist Pat McCrory, the video mirrors the sonic change-up, with the first half moving slowly in reverse through indoor scenes of people dancing, DJing and shooting pool, and the second half leading viewers outdoors, where the band performs for a hyped-up crowd on a stage in the middle of an open field.
The dual song drop follows the announcement earlier this month of the band’s new album — its first in four years following the highly acclaimed, Grammy-nominated Glow On — and the release of the Never Enough title track. While Mike Elizondo (Linkin Park, Fiona Apple, Eminem) produced the last record, Yates takes the production reins on the new album, which was recorded between the band’s hometown of Baltimore and Los Angeles.
Turnstile will play a record release show June 5 in Brooklyn, N.Y., before going on a more extensive tour including festival stops at Primavera Sound, Glastonbury, Ottawa Blues and III Points, among others.
