Miley Cyrus’s Upcoming Album

By Cate Galante
Fans have been wondering where beloved Disney Channel icon-turned-pop star Miley Cyrus has been. Her album “Endless Summer Vacation” was released over two years ago, and audiences are begging for some new hot hits. Cyrus listened and delivered, announcing recently that her ninth studio album titled “Something Beautiful” is scheduled for release on May 30th, 2025. It is a 13-track album produced by Cyrus herself alongside Shawn Everett. When asked about the album, Everett revealed that the album is “more experimental than anything she’s ever done, but in a pop way that I love” (Harper’s Bazaar). Cyrus describes her latest work as a “concept album,” which hopefully will help to remedy what she refers to as “illness” in the music industry. She also opens up about her collaborations on the album: her longtime boyfriend Maxx Morando, drummer for the rock band Liily, helped her produce multiple tracks and even helped write the title track. Writing with people she loves helps to fuel her storytelling and passion for her music, says Cyrus.
Something unique about the upcoming album is that it is deemed a “visual album.” The album will be accompanied by a visual film, which will soon premiere in June. Cyrus emphasizes that the visual component of the release is what’s driving the sound and says that every track on the album has a distinct tone with respective “healing properties.” Whether the song is focused on heartbreak or grievance, they are written in a delicate and beautiful way. As Cyrus puts it, “You can’t have a painting without highlights and contrast” (Harper’s Bazaar). Fans are expecting a wide variety of tracks, from peppy pop to hard-hitting ballads.
Just a short week ago, Cyrus dropped a track off the album titled “End of the World,” to which fans had raving reviews. It was a wonderful blend of her nostalgic pop sound with a touch of retro beats. Will the rest of the album match the bold intensity of this recently released single? All will be discovered on May 30th, when the full album is set to be released.
