Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’ Scores Third Week at No. 1 on U.K. Singles Chart

Alex Warren has continued his dominant streak at the summit of the U.K. Singles Chart for a third consecutive week with breakout hit “Ordinary” (Apr. 4).

The US singer-songwriter and influencer holds off competition from Chappell Roan, Doechii, and Ariana Grande to keep the spot following a third consecutive week of growth. Official Charts Company reports that over the past seven days “Ordinary” earned 71,000 chart units, with a combined 8.1 million streams across platforms, up from 7 million in the preceding week.

The former Hype House star’s 2024 single “Carry You Home” is also experiencing success, moving one spot up to No. 9 to give him his second top 10 single. Earlier this week “Ordinary” hit a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 20, up 15 places week-on-week.

Speaking to Billboard in January, Warren discussed using challenging moments in his personal life, including the passing of both of his parents and his stint of homelessness, in his material. “I recently started doing this thing where I write about those [experiences], and I try to take control in a way,” he said. “For me, something really beautiful is taking something so sad and dark, and what most would view as something that ruined their life, and turn it into something that can help people.”

Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” holds steady at No. 2 having notched up two weeks at No. 1 back in March. Fresh off picking up the Woman of The Year prize at Billboard’s Women In Music event on Saturday (Mar. 29), Doechii’s “Anxiety” is a non-mover at No. 3 – her highest peak on the U.K. Singles Chart so far.

Bensoon Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” holds its position at No. 4, while Ariana Grande has the week’s highest new entry with “Twilight Zone” closing the week at No. 5. The song appears on the new deluxe edition of her 2024 LP Eternal Sunshine, and which spawned a pair of No. 2 singles in the U.K.: “Yes And?”, and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)”.
