Warmest St. Patrick’s parade on record this year?

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Well, Syracuse was spoiled with the 4th warmest St. Patrick’s parade last year, but what about this year? Well, if you liked last year, you…

Can we top last year’s parade day?

Yes, we think so! There will be more clouds than not on and it’s going to be windy, gusts 30+ mph, too Saturday, but it looks mainly dry and unseasonably warm! How warm?

Possibly the warmest parade day!

We are forecasting a high of 68 degrees for Saturday afternoon which would tie the warmest parade day high set back in 2012! So, if we see any appreciable breaks to sun Saturday, we do think there’s a distinct chance we could touch 70 degrees or even a bit higher on parade day! Either way, it looks very warm for mid-March, but the gusty wind will make it feel a little cooler.

Below are the top 4 warmest parades on record in Syracuse…

Any rain for the parade?

Probably not, with just a passing shower or two possible after 2 or 3 pm.

I’d say CNY is experiencing “THE LUCK OF THE IRISH” when it comes to parade day weather last year and from the looks of it this year too! 🙂

Parade extremes

March 11, 2017 was the coldest parade day on record. The high, a whopping 17°. The temperature at parade time (Noon) was 15°. Take that temperature, add a little snow (1”) and a wind at 15 mph, it felt more like near 0 or even below!

On the flip side, just the year before was the warmest! March 12, 2016, at parade time in Syracuse, it was 56° and mostly cloudy. This was the warmest temperature at noon but it wasn’t the warmest day overall.

The warmest parade day was March 17, 2012. The high temperature that day was 68° with a parade kick-of temperature of 54°.

The average temperature for parade kickoff at noon is 35°, the average high on parade days is 40.6°.
