On Sunday (Nov. 3), Will dropped a new video to his YouTube channel titled “Yes She Can,” urging fans to vote for Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s presidential election (Nov. 5). Throughout the 2-minute acoustic track, Will drops lines directly calling out Republican nominee and former president Donald Trump, singing that some Americans are “entertained by the predator” in the first few second of the track.

As the song goes on, the artist makes the case for Harris’ presidency, urging listeners to get out and vote for her on Tuesday: “So register and vote for your life/ Do it for your daughters and your sons and your wife,” he sings. “If you a woman then vote for your rights/ And don’t let them take away your rights/ We could be better than we ever been/ We about to have a woman president.”

If his message in the song wasn’t clear enough, Will made sure his fans knew exactly what he meant in the video’s caption. “This is a heartfelt anthem celebrating Kamala Harris and the power of every people. With Election Day just around the corner, I wanted to score the movement, and create a call to action, and a promise of what we can achieve together,” he wrote. “Join me as we shine a spotlight not only on the journey of Kamala Harris and the change thats coming, but also on the everyday heroes and #PowerfulWoman who breathe life into the world.”

If you’re thinking that “Yes She Can” sounds familiar, you are correct — the new track serves as a reimagining of the singer’s 2008 song titled “Yes We Can,” which he released in support of Barack Obama’s first run for the presidency. While the songs share the same acoustic guitar backing throughout, the original version saw Will singing along to a speech Obama gave during his campaign about progress.
