TobyMac & Skillet Shine With New No. 1s on Faith-Based Charts
As TobyMac’s “Nothin’ Sweeter” crowns Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart (dated Nov. 16), the singer-songwriter rewrites the record for the most leaders, 14, among soloists since the survey began in 2003. He surpasses Matthew West, after the pair had shared the mark since July.
Among all acts, TobyMac ties duo for King & Country for the second-most Christian Airplay No. 1s. MercyMe leads with 19.
“Nothin’ Sweeter” increased by 7% to 6.5 million audience impressions Nov. 1-7, according to Luminate. TobyMac, from Fairfax, Va., co-wrote the hit and first single from his upcoming album with Benji Cowart and Jordan Mohilowski. He adds his third consecutive Christian Airplay chart-topper (not counting holiday tracks). “Faithfully” reigned for seven weeks beginning in February after “Cornerstone” featuring Zach Williams led for two weeks in July 2023. (In between those proper singles, “Christmas Hits Different,” with Tasha Layton, hit No. 2 last December.)
Concurrently, “Nothin’ Sweeter” dominates Christian AC Airplay list for a fifth week, having become TobyMac’s 11th No. 1 on the ranking.
Skillet’s Fifth No. 1
Christian rock band Skillet earns its fifth No. 1 (and fifth No. 1 debut) on Top Christian Albums as its latest set, Revolution, roars in at No. 1. The 10-song LP, released Nov. 1, earned 12,000 equivalent album units, with 10,000 in album sales, during its launch week.
The album by the foursome of John Cooper, Korey Cooper, Seth Morrison and Jen Ledger follows Dominion, which arrived at its No. 2 Top Christian Albums peak in January 2022. Three consecutive leaders by the group preceded the set: Victorious (August 2019), Unleashed (August 2016) and Rise (July 2013). The band notched its first No. 1 with Awake in September 2009.
