Calvin Harris Drops New Remix of His 2016 Rihanna Collab ‘This Is What You Came For’
Calvin Harris has released something special for Amazing Music users today (Nov. 15) with a new remix of his and Rihanna‘s 2016 collab “This Is What You Came For.”
The edit pares down the nearly four-minute original into a tighter two-and-a-half minute take, speeding up the BPM, adding some breathy effects on Rihanna’s vocal and transforming the drop into a tight, driving, percussion-forward release.
“This Is What You Came For (Calvin Harris VIP Mix – Amazon Music Original)” is available only on Amazon Music.
The remix is the first new-ish music from the Scottish producer since August, when a compilation album of some of his greatest hits, 96 Months, was released. That compilation included the original “This Is What You Came For,” along with 2018’s “One Kiss” with Dua Lipa, 2015’s “How Deep Is Your Love” with Disciples, 2023’s “Miracle” with Ellie Goulding, 2019’s “Giant” with Rag’n’Bone Man and 2019 edit of his own 2009 track “I’m Not Alone.” Since their respective release dates, the songs in the collection have been streamed more than nine billion times on Spotify alone.
Meanwhile, the original “This Is What You Came For” spent 32 weeks on the Hot 100 in the summer of 2016, peaking at No. 3 on the chart. It marked the second collaboration from Harris and Rihanna, with their era-defining 2011 song “We Found Love” spending 10 weeks at No .1 on the Hot 100 in 2011 and 2012.
Taylor Swift is among the writers on “This Is What You Came For,” with the superstar co-penning the song under the pseudonym “Nils Sjöberg” back while she and Harris were dating. The song made its Eras Tour debut during Swift’s stop this past June in Liverpool, England.
