The legendary British rock group Oasis is getting ready for their much-awaited tour of North America, which will be their first trip to the states in more than a decade. Following years of rumors and fan requests, the band declared their comeback and confirmed dates in significant American and Canadian cities. Frontman Liam Gallagher said, “We’ve missed playing for our North American fans.” The tour will begin in New York and travel to Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, and other locations.
Oasis has been the subject of several reunion speculations since their breakup in 2009, but this news is the first official move toward their eagerly anticipated return. Lead guitarist and principal songwriter for the group, Noel Gallagher, also voiced his delight “The time feels right. We’ve been hearing from fans for years who wanted this to happen, and I think the break we had has given us a new energy”. Gallagher also hinted and teased new music to get fans even more excited than they already are.
Outside of the band expressing their great excitement for the tour, fans have even shown eagerness for the show. They have shown this through social media communicating their enthusiasm. “I never thought I’d get to see Oasis live again,” tweeted one fan, “this is a dream come true.” Another fan from Toronto shared, “I’ve been waiting since I was a teenager to see them. I can’t believe it’s finally happening”. Music and Oasis fans have been waiting years for this scene to occur and it is finally unfolding before their eyes. With the success of Oasis in the past, music critics predict this tour could be one of the largest rock events of the decade.
It is clear that this tour will be more than just a reunion but more of a celebration of one of the most influential bands over the last few decades. The die-hard fans can expect the timeless tunes of “Wonderwall”, “Champagne Supernova”, and “Don’t Look Back in Anger”. The music world cannot wait to hear the lads from across the pond back on stage performing again.
