Utica man arrested after stealing bus

Stole bus approximately 1:00 Tuesday morning
UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man was arrested on Tuesday, June 25, after stealing a Durham School Bus, according to Utica Police.
Officers were called to the area of Eagle Street and Park Avenue at approximately 8:15 am on Tuesday. It was reported that employees at the Durham Student Services bus company noticed one of their school buses was missing. A check of the bus’s GPS system located it at that intersection. As they were getting ready to return the bus to the facility, they were approached by a male — later identified as 29-year-old Daniel Finley.
Employees noticed Finley was holding the keys to the bus and a tablet that accompanied the bus. When confronted by the employees, Finley was adamant that the bus was his and no one was taking it from him.
Finley was detained by Utica Police shortly after their arrival. Further investigation — which included review of the bus cameras — found that Finley stole the bus at approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning and drove it to the location where they initially found the bus.
Finley was arrested and transported to the Utica Police Department for processing and arraignment. He is currently being charged with:
- Fourth-degree Grand Larceny, a Class E Felony
- Second-degree Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, a Class C Felony.
