Tompkins County man arrested on burglary charges in Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. (WETM) — A McLean man is facing multiple charges related to an Ithaca burglary.

Larry W. Stanton Jr., 34, was arrested on June 1 after police say they found stolen property in his possession.

According to the Ithaca Police Department, officers were called to the 100 block of College Avenue for a burglary that the caller believed just happened. The caller reported that their apartment had been ransacked and multiple valuable items were missing. The caller also told police that they saw a person standing in their driveway next to a gray minivan.

Police arrived at the scene at about 4:48 p.m. and found Stanton, who matched the description of the person seen in the driveway near the residence.

Police say that Stanton had stolen items and arrested him.

Officers then got a search warrant from the Ithaca City Court and searched Stanton’s vehicle. While searching, officers found more items that were stolen from the apartment.

Stanton was charged with second-degree burglary (a class C felony), third-degree grand larceny (a class D felony), third-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a class D felony), and fourth-degree grand larceny (a class E felony).

Stanton was arraigned in the Ithaca City Court and was taken to the Tompkins County Jail. He is being held without bail.
