Three local districts put revised school budgets up for revote Tuesday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Three school districts around the Greater Syracuse region will ask voters to reconsider their amended budgets for next school year at the polls on Tuesday, June 18, after each initial spending plan was defeated last month.

School districts with budgets rejected by voters a second time will automatically defer to contingency budgets, which often lead to more substantial cuts to staff and programs.

Proposition 1 / Budget
Revised Proposed Budget: $163,012,098 (2.92% tax levy increase)
Down From / Defeated Budget: $168,935,371 (8.4% tax levy increase)
(see district website for details)

Proposition 2 / Buses
Reducing the original request of $3.2 million by half to $1.6 million. The amended proposition asks voters to authorize the district to purchase up to two electric buses (instead of four), only with rebates to defray costs; two ultra-low emission propane buses with wheelchair-accessible lifts (instead of four); and three passenger vehicles (instead of six).
