Three children suffer third-degree burns, broken bones, head injuries following home explosion

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Eight of the 12 victims remain at Golisano Children’s Hospital after being sent to the emergency room following Tuesday’s, June 18, home explosion.

The Syracuse Fire Department says the children that are victims range in age, with the oldest being 13 years-old and the youngest being an 8-month-old-baby. The children’s hospital says three out of the eight children are facing life-threatening injuries, including second and third-degree burns, broken bones and head injuries.

Those facing life-threatening injuries include the 8-month-old baby, a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old. Golisano says the burn victims have been sent to the ICU where they’ll be treated by the hospital’s burn team.

As of Wednesday afternoon, June 18, the eight children remain at Golisano’s, but the hospital says some could possibly be discharged as soon as later in the day on Wednesday.

The four adult victims were admitted to Upstate Hospital.
