Student-Athletes of the Week: C-NS girl’s lacrosse

CICERO, N.Y. (WSYR) — The feeling of being a state champion is tough to describe

“It’s definitely been a surreal feeling,” said Gabriella Pauline.

“My gosh, it means so much, like words can’t even describe the experience,” said Ava Giannuzzi.

“Honestly, it was kind of like a fever dream, like it didn’t feel real,” said Brooke Molchanoff.

“I mean our name is going to be in that gym forever, so it’s really honoring,” said Marissa Doty.

While the talent on the C-NS girls lacrosse team was visible with only two losses this season, their bond was the part that made them unstoppable.

“I mean, we’ve all played together for a really long time, we all grew up together. So I think it just shows how close we are. We just work as a team,” Doty said. “I think that just like brings us even closer together like on the field are all happy for each other when we score. We were like working on assists and really makes us less selfish, being happy for everyone else on the team.

“I just think playing together, honestly, we have a really well team-oriented group. We all just want to play for each other, and when we’re really close like a team, we’re all friends and I think that’s really what showed in our games,” said Pauline.

“We just have each other’s backs, you know, if one of us misses a play, misses a pass, you got the next one or we’re right there to pick it up, and I think words of encouragement definitely carried us a long way” Giannuzzi said.

Now these girls have built a family that has left its mark in Northstars history.

“Yeah, it’s crazy. It’s such a special honor to bring it back in 28 years and honestly just feels amazing. I think because we’ve all been playing together for so long and we’ve all been through seasons that haven’t been so great, and leaving it as a state championship is awesome and there’s nothing more you could ask for,” said Molchanoff.

“It was a great feeling, and I think we were just all really excited to be able to do it together,” said Pauline.

Now, they get to add another trophy to the case. Congratulations to C-NS girl’s lacrosse, you are our Byrne Dairy and Deli NewsChannel 9 Student-Athletes of the Week!
