Rainy motorcycle accident in Oneida County ends up deadly
SANGERFIELD, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly accident that happened on Route 12 in Sangerfield, on June 20.
Around 3:30 p.m., just south of State Route 20, deputies were sent to an accident involving a motorcycle and a car. At the scene, they found 40-year-old Jesse Hafelin, of North Brookfield, deceased.

According to the sheriff’s office, Hafelin was traveling north on Route 12 when he lost control of his bike. The bike flipped on its side and Hafelin, along with the bike, crossed over into the southbound lane.
He then slid in front of the car, which was being driven by a 77-year-old from Norwich.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office adds that there was a large amount of rain falling during the time of the accident.
The 77-year-old driver was not injured in the incident.
The Sheriff’s Accident Reconstruction unit and ID unit were brought in to reconstruct the crash. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Waterville Fire Dept. and N. Brookfield Fire Dept.
The investigation is ongoing. No tickets have been issued.
