SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Hip-hop fans get ready, as seven-time GRAMMY winning artist will have fairgoers feeling that bass later this summer at the 2024 New York State fair.

A cultural icon and a pioneer in hip-hop, Big Boi will be performing on the Suburban Park Stage on Friday, August 30 at 8:00 p.m.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all time, Big Boi first burst into the music scene back in 1994 with the release of OutKast’s debut album “Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik,” which was certified platinum. The group followed with the double platinum album “ATLiens,” in 1996, which climbed to No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart.

“Big Boi and The Great New York State Fair is the perfect recipe for summer fun and excitement,” said Interim Director Julie LaFave. “We’re always listening to feedback from fairgoers on which acts they’d love to see. These comments and suggestions help to shape our entertainment lineup and we’re so excited to have a seven-time GRAMMY winner take the Suburban Park stage!”

Individually, the musician has been meeting with critical acclaim from his solo album “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty” landing at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart

Multiple other projects have racked up millions of streams.

The fair starts Wednesday, August 21, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2. All concerts are included in the price of admission, which will go on sale later this summer.

In total, The fair’s Chevrolet Music Series will feature 39 artists with a daily 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. concert at Chevy Court and a daily 8 p.m. concert at Suburban Park.
