Heat breaks with storm damage in CNY

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The heatwave CNY endured last week came to an end over the weekend with some severe weather in parts of our area.
Saturday was the most active day regarding severe weather, with damage reported across the Finger Lakes, around Groton in Cortland County, and Fulton in Oswego County.

Sunday’s severe weather
Overall Sunday’s weather was quieter, with most of the severe weather reports to the south and east of Syracuse.

There was a tornado warning for Madison, Oneida, and Herkimer counties, but there were no reports of any damage. There was a report of a funnel cloud in West Winfield in southern Herkimer County, but no damage was found and there was no confirmation that the funnel touched the ground at which point it would have become a tornado.
