Flood warning issued for Jefferson County

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Heavy rains have caused the National Weather Service in Buffalo to issue a flood warning for Jefferson County.

The alert was issued at 2:15 p.m. and will last until 5:15 p.m. today. Excessive rainfall is expected for the duration of the warning. Low-water crossings are swamped with water and may not be passable. There could be areas of slow moving or standing water.

The NWS said that two inches of rain have fallen and another inch is possible for the length of the advisory.

Some locations that could be impacted include Watertown, Clayton, Dexter, Glen Park, Wellesley Island State Park, Sackets Harbor, Smithville, Brownville, Chaumont, Perch River, Depauville, Perch Lake, La Fargeville and Fishers Landing.
