Firefighters respond to intentional house fire on Kirkwood Place


SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — On Sunday, June 9, around 5:30 p.m., Syracuse Firefighters responded to a report house fire on the corner of West Colvin Street and Kirkwood Place, on the City’s South Side.
When firefighters arrived on scene they found large amounts of smoke and fire coming from the second-floor windows of the house at 108 Kirkwood Place.
Firefighters worked quickly to search the house for anyone trapped inside while attempting at the same time to put the fire out as quickly as possible.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 10 minutes and declared to be put out in 30 minutes.
Through investigation Syracuse Fire Investigators determined that the fire was set on purpose and began in a bedroom on the second floor.
The home was empty at the time of the fire and their are no reported injuries from the fire.
No other information is known at this time.
