Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY debuts a shelter dog ‘field trip’ program

CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Cayuga County’s SPCA is presenting locals with a solution for wanting to spend time with a pooch, but not being able to commit to getting one of your own.

Fingerlakes SPCA of CNY‘s newly announced “Doggie Expawdition Program” allows participants to take shelter dogs out on field trips.

As the SPCA’s director, Nick Lapresi explains it, the dogs get to show off, represent the Finger Lake SPCA of CNY, and meet potential adopters while out shopping, enjoying the great outdoors, or relaxing in a local park.

“Even though we do our best to make every animal comfy, cozy, and loved during their stay, the shelter can be a stressful place! Even just a few hours outside of the shelter can help reduce stress levels in shelter dogs,” said Lapresi.

You can stop by the SPCA — during business hours — to sign up for the program.

What dog wouldn’t want their very own pup cup?

“I’m so excited to officially launch the Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY Doggie Expawdition program. This is a great way for community members to help homeless and abused animals in our community. Next time you are out enjoying one of the wonderful parks or nature walks in our community why not take a shelter dog with you?” Lapressi added.

The program may just help you find the pooch for you!
