Fight turns into shots fired at The Sting in Oswego, one hit

OSWEGO, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Just after 2 a.m. on June 23, Oswego Police were sent to The Sting, for a reported fight in progress with shots fired.

At the scene, officers were told that a man and woman were in a verbal and physical fight outside of the bar.

“It was reported from witnesses in the area, that as the confrontation escalated, a female fired multiple shots from a handgun with at least one of those rounds striking a male,” said Oswego Police.

Police found the man who had been shot. He had a wound to his “lower extremity” officials say.

As for the shooter, 24-year-old Brianna Sneed, of Rochester, she had left the scene.

Police investigators with the OPD Criminal Investigations Division learned that the alleged shooter was at an apartment within the Sylvan Glen Apartment complex, which is located at 2 W. 8th Street.

OPD Special Response Team went to the apartment complex at 7:02 p.m. Police say that after a one-and-a-half-hour standoff between them and Sneed, she was taken into custody without incident.

Sneed was charged with:

  • Attempted murder in the 2nd degree a class B felony
  • Assault in the 1st degree a class B felony
  • Criminal use of a firearm a class B felony
  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree a class C felony
  • Reckless endangerment in the 1st degree a class D felony

Sneed is being held pending arraignment.

The victim was treated and released from Oswego Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Oswego Police say this is being investigated as an isolated incident with no danger to the public as the victim and suspect know each other.

The investigation is ongoing.
