68-year-old woman killed in Oneida Co. crash


WESTERN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Deborah Gilbert, a 68-year-old woman from Boonville, was killed in a crash on Route 46 in the Town of Western in Oneida County on Wednesday, June 19.
Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies first responded to the crash around 11:15 a.m.
They found a pickup truck being driven by a 69-year-old man from Canastota, he hit the mirror of another vehicle being driven by a 50-year-old man from Forestport, said the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
The Canastota man then lost control of his pickup truck and hit Gilbert’s Subaru head-on in her lane.
Gilbert was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was ejected from his pickup truck.
He was flown to Upstate Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man who had his mirror hit was not injured, said the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
No one has been ticketed or charged at this time. The sheriff’s office is still investigating the crash.
