Wet weather about to move into CNY

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – The summery air we felt briefly blow in on Wednesday has already departed, but how’s the rest of the week shaping up? Find out below…

Turning even cooler & damp to end the week

An area of low pressure tracking east from the Ohio River Valley into Pennsylvania tonight and the counterclockwise winds around this low bring moisture back into central New York.

After midnight Thursday into Friday steadier rain moves closer the region.  Right now, the rain doesn’t look to be too heavy and at times it may even be just some drizzle at times. Total rainfall through midnight Friday for most averages out to about half an inch with some spots south of Syracuse seeing a bit more. That’s not enough rain to cause any flood issues.

So, if you have plans outdoors on Friday be sure to have rain jackets and dress warm because highs probably won’t make it any higher than the mid to upper 50s.

Any better for mom this weekend?

Unfortunately, the weather won’t be great for the weekend as there are more showers around. Low pressure and a frontal system are dropping southeast out of the Great Lakes Saturday. It is still far enough to our west that we feel showers on Saturday over central New York would be more scattered. That will give you at least a chance to dodge raindrops if you have outdoor plans.

This system is passing close to us Saturday night into Sunday so unfortunately for the mom’s it looks like showers are more widespread to finish out the weekend.

Keep the jackets/sweatshirts handy over the weekend too as highs likely only reach to within a few degrees of 60.
