Two people stabbed in Utica, one critically injured

UTICA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, Utica Police were called to the scene of a large disorderly group at the 1300 block of Whitesboro Street.

As the group was breaking up, a fight broke out, according to Utica Police.

Two people ended up being stabbed during this fight.

One victim was taken to Wynn Hospital by the Utica Fire Department with multiple stab wounds to the back.

The second victim was taken to Wynn Hospital in a private vehicle and was in “extremely critical condition,” said Utica Police. He had been stabbed in the chest and his heart was pierced, requiring immediate surgery.

The surgeons were able to save the victim. Although he remains in serious condition, he is expected to recover, police said.

The Utica Police Department Major Crimes Unit is handling the investigation due to the severity of the injuries.
