Second round of surveys released for the naming of Liverpool’s mascot

LIVERPOOL, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Liverpool Central School District released on May 10 that they will be launching another survey to help find their new mascot a name.

“The Liverpool Mascot Committee has reviewed submissions from the Mascot Suggestion Survey, which took place in January,” said the district. “Based on the initial community survey, the committee has determined that it will keep the current logo and has narrowed the community’s suggestions to 10 potential names.”

Students ranging from kindergarten all the way through 8th grade will be able to fill out their own survey the week of May 13. On May 16, grades 9-12 will get to participate as well.

New mascot name options are:

  • Centurions
  • Champions
  • Commanders
  • Gladiators
  • Guardians
  • Lancers
  • Legends
  • Liverpool (No Nickname)
  • Spartans
  • Titans

You can participate and vote from Friday, May 17 through Friday, May 24.

Liverpool’s previous mascot was a warrior. But back in April of 2023, the New York State Board of Regents unanimously approved new rules to ban the use of Native American culture by schools.
