‘I hate you,’ baby’s mom says to man involved in daughter’s drive-by death

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — When a judge sentenced one of the men involved in the murder of an 11-year-old baby, the girl’s father had to wait outside the courtroom.

Shaquail Harris, the father of Dior Harris, had to be escorted out by court officers after confronting Chavez Ocasio against the judge’s wishes.

“You took my baby from me,” he said, pointing and gesturing through a gaggle of officers.

The girl’s mom, Desiree Seymore, was invited to share prepared remarks.

She said: “My son asks me all the time: ‘Mommy, is Dior coming back?’”

“I hate you,” she continued. “You deserve everything you get in prison.”

Then, it was Judge Gordon Cuffy’s chance to speak to Ocasio.

“Every minor transgression is met with guns and I see it constantly,” the judge said.

Judge Cuffy followed the agreed-upon deal, sentencing Ocasio to 15 years in state prison, with five additional years of probation.

Ocasio’s reduced sentence came with his guilty plea to attempted murder in February of 2023 in an agreement to testify against Jesse Outley, who Ocasio said pulled the trigger.

Outley was convicted of murdering Dior Harris by a jury last week. He fired the bullets that hit the car Harris was in along with her mother and three cousins.
