How long does our break in the showers last?

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – The summery air we felt briefly blow in on Wednesday has already departed, but how’s the rest of the week shaping up? Find out below…

Turning cooler and drier overnight

After reaching 80 degrees for the first time since early October in Syracuse on Wednesday, we are turning cooler tonight, and staying cool for the next several days.

Lows drop into the 40s to around 50 tonight with some clearing.

A change for the better Thursday, but ….

An area of high pressure to the north across eastern Canada is going to nose into CNY as a developing storm system near the Ohio River Valley takes its time working to the north and east.

What does this mean for us? Instead of having rain developing later Thursday afternoon under a mostly cloudy sky, it now looks like we will see some sun much of the day and just a small chance of a shower towards sunset.

Highs are cooler, but pretty close to where we should be this time of year, reaching the low to mid 60s.

Even cooler & damp late in the week

Later Thursday night into Friday the stronger storm system south of us gets closer to the area and should deliver some rain to the region to round out the week.

So, if you have plans outdoors Friday be sure to have the rain jackets and dress warm because highs probably won’t make it any higher than the mid to upper 50s.

Any better for mom this weekend?

Unfortunately, the weather won’t be great for all the moms in CNY, especially Mother’s Day itself with some showers probably around Sunday. At this point, we think Saturday is the better half of the weekend. It won’t be dry but at least with less showers around.

Keep the jackets/sweatshirts handy over the weekend too as highs likely only reach to within a few degrees of 60.
