Firefighter taken to hospital during Jefferson Co. fire

ADAMS, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Around 2:23 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, the Village of Adams Fire Department was called to a house fire at 9 West Church Street.
When they arrived on the scene, which is two houses behind their station, firefighters saw a two-story, wood-frame house with heavy fire showing from the sides, said the Adams Fire Department.
Belleville, Mannsville-Manor, Smithville, Ellisburg, Rodman, Town of Watertown, Henderson, and Sackets Harbor Fire Departments all ended up responding.
An excavator was brought to the fire to remove parts of the roof so firefighters could get to the deep-seated fire and extinguish it.
A firefighter was taken to the hospital for exhaustion, but was treated and later returned to the scene, said the Adams Fire Department.
