Corporal Kyle Schneider Run in Baldwinsville honors fallen heroes

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A Gold Star Family dedicated to honoring their son and all the other heroes who have given their lives to service as the annual Corporal Kyle Schneider Run was held on Saturday morning, May 18, at Van Buren Park in Baldwinsville.
It’s a day of honoring and remembering those who have stepped up to the call for service.
“Kyle said it’s my turn, and our family each and every day,, with a community that surrounds us, says to make a difference,” said Lorie Schneider, Kyle’s mother.
“It’s my turn to make a difference”, a phrase encapsulating the dedicated man that Kyle was to his community and his country, and also the impact his family is making now.
“If we have one person at our opening ceremony, one person that walks this beautiful park that Kyle grew up in, his footprints through this whole park, if one person honors and remembers then our job is done,” Lorie said.
Remembering Kyle, and all the other heroes who have fallen.
“Kyle, Mike, and Hootch all stepped up and said it’s my turn in one way or another. They are all heroes in every sense of the word I can express here today to you,” said Deputy Kate Loveland with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
A ceremony honoring those we have lost, while making sure those heroes will never be forgotten.
“A hero can die two deaths. The first is their physical deaths, and the second is their name’s never being spoken again. So, our mission is making sure we never forget those heroes,” said Kristi Mangine with the New York Run For The Fallen.
The Cpl. Kyle Schneider Foundation is hosting a memorial blood drive on July 2 at Saint Ann Seton Church. You can find more information HERE.
