Can it stay sunny and dry into the holiday weekend??

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – It was a picture perfect Thursday but can we keep that kind of weather into the holiday weekend? Details are below…
Relief from the heat into the end of the week
High pressure is in control of the weather in the short term so look for clear skies tonight and a much more comfortable night for sleeping with lows in the low to mid 50s. There should be some 40s in the normally chillier outlying areas.

The nicest day of the week comes Friday with plenty of sun from start to finish, a nice, steady breeze, and temperatures in the upper 70s to possibly 80 degrees. Once again, dew points are low (in the 40s to near 50 degrees) so there shouldn’t be any problem with high humidity.

Although the winds should be light early in the day, they should become gusty out of the northwest. There could be some gusts at times close to 30 mph.

Summer-like feel to the start of the Memorial Day weekend
The start to the Memorial Day holiday doesn’t look that bad.
Saturday features a mix of clouds and sun with temperatures rising into the low 80s which is more typical for July or early August. Quite appropriate for the unofficial start to the summer season.
While we do have some showers and storms in the forecast for Saturday, we do have better news. The cold front causing any precipitation is slower to arrive. What does that mean? The showers and t-storms look like they could hold off until the early evening. If you have outdoor plans through mid to late afternoon you should be dry.
That same cold front moves though Saturday night with more showers but it is departing Sunday morning. In its place is high pressure so we dry out with a mix of sun and clouds and temperatures again above normal close to 80°
A wetter end to Memorial Day weekend
Unfortunately, our thinking for Memorial Day itself has not changed the last couple of day. A new frontal system arrives with more showers and T-storms around and this this time not confined to late in the day. If you are headed to the beach or have a picnic planned, you will need to keep an eye on the radar.
