Another warm spring month

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – It was yet another warm month across central New York in April. The grass has greened up, the trees are budding, and flowers are blooming as spring has sprung the last half of April.

Temperatures in April ended up at about 3 and a half degrees warmer than average in Syracuse, or 14th warmest April on record. Yes, it wasn’t as warm as April 2023, last year when the average temperature was about 52 degrees, but still well above normal, and the 5th warmer than average month in a row in Syracuse. The warmest temperature in April was the record high of 78 degrees on the 9th, while the coolest was 28 on the 25th. We only felt three 20 something degree lows for the month, had 6 days with highs in the 40s, and 6 with highs in the 70s, but didn’t manage to get to 80 degrees once, which is the first time we haven’t felt 80+ degrees at least in the month of April since 2020, 4 years!

Precipitation wise we ended up just about two tenths of an inch wetter than average for the month with only about a half an inch of snow, or 2.5 inches below normal. Just another below average month with regards to snow in Syracuse. What else is new.
