Travis Kelce Confirmed to Host ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity’: ‘I Grew Up Loving Game Shows’

Travis Kelce is heading from the field to the hosting stand! The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is officially the host of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, a spinoff of the popular Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? game show, according to Extra.

“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” Kelce said in a press statement. “The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”

“Travis has proven to be an incredible talent on and off the field, and we appreciate the trust he has placed in us with his first foray into television,” added Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals unscripted and targeted programming, Amazon MGM Studios. “His natural, comedic dynamic with our panelists and guests, coupled with some exciting new twists, will keep our global customers coming back week after week.”

The Prime Video show will feature contestants using celebrities to help with 11 elementary-school-level questions, with the chance to win $100,000.

Originally hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? first aired on Fox in 2007. Running for a total of four seasons, the game show saw adult contestants competing to answer grade-school-level questions with the help of a group of actual elementary schoolers. In 2019, the series was briefly revived on Nickelodeon with John Cena at the helm.
