Sister Sledge to perform at the 2024 New York State Fair


SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Musical vocal group, Sister Sledge, is coming to Syracuse this summer.
The Sledge sisters, from Philadelphia, formed their singing group in 1971. Kathy, Debbie, Kim Sledge making up Sister Sledge.
The “We are Family” singers will take on the NYS Fair on Friday, August 23, at 6 p.m. at Chevy Court.
Some of the songs they are known for is, “Lost in Music,” “He’s the Greatest Dancer,” and “Thinking of You,” ” Frankie,” and more.
Sister Sledge has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, London’s Royal Albert Hall, and Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage. They have also performed at the White House, and even before Pope Francis during the 2015 World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, according to the Fair.
“Everyone knows ‘We are Family;’ it’s contagious and you can’t help but get up and dance,” said State Fair Interim Director Julie LaFave. “We’re so excited to be bringing that energy and soulful vibe to the Great New York State Fair and look forward to welcoming Sledgendary and a little disco era to the Fair this summer!”
The Fair starts Wednesday, August 21, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2.
