Night work in DeWitt to begin this week, roads down to one lane

DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — April 1 begins another traffic change for work to be done on the I-81 Viaduct Project.
The NYSDOT says Manlius Center Road, in the Town of DeWitt, will be reduced to a single lane with alternating flows of traffic controlled by flaggers between Wilbur Road and Drott Drive.
This work will be done from Monday, April 1 through Friday, April 6 between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
“The closure is necessary to facilitate the partial demolition of the I-481 southbound bridge over Manlius Center Road,” said NYSDOT.
Route 5/92, in the Town of DeWitt, will also be reduced to a single lane eastbound and westbound between Erie Blvd East and Maple Drive.
This begins Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 5, from 8 p.m. through 6 a.m.
This closure is to facilitate test pits for the purpose of utility location.
All projects depend on weather.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
