Mild now, but chillier air & rain is on the way

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – After a nice warm up Tuesday, some rain showers bring about a chilly change midweek. Details are below…

Feels so good out there now, but…

Boy it felt so nice today with highs in the 60s and low 70s, but change is on the way.

Some rain showers develop mainly after 8 this evening ahead of a cold front due to swing through central New York to start Wednesday. Temperatures won’t be as cool tonight with readings dropping into the mid-40s to near 50 come Wednesday morning.

Winds of change & damp start to Wednesday

Occasional rain showers continue through the first part of Wednesday and may end as a little snow and or graupel during the midday before we dry out after 1 or 2 p.m. We also expect some sun to develop later Wednesday afternoon and evening.

In the wake of the Wednesday morning cold front look for a chilly, raw and blustery midweek as temperatures are mainly in the 40s Wednesday.

Sun returns late this week with frosty starts

High pressure builds in quickly Wednesday night into Thursday and sets the stage for a clear, calm and cold/frosty Wednesday night/Thursday morning and plenty of sun Thursday.

Yes, you’ll need that ice scraper come Thursday morning with lows dropping into the 20s for most late Wednesday night into the start of Thursday and again Friday morning.

Lows Thursday night/Friday morning should be in the 20s to near 30.

Record cold??

We don’t think so. The record lows for Thursday and Friday mornings are 19° and 21° respectively, both set back in 1919. So, the records should be safe, although the normally colder spots probably will dip into the teens, especially early Thursday!

Cool to seasonable

What about the highs? On Thursday, with wall-to-wall sun should make the low to mid 50s, which won’t feel too bad with light winds.

Come Friday the warming trend continues with readings climbing into the 60s to round out the week!
